Skidamarink

Lyrics
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
I love you in the morning,
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening,
And underneath the moon.
Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you!
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you.
I love you in the morning,
And in the afternoon,
I love you in the evening,
And underneath the moon.
Oh, Skidamarink a dink a dink,
Skidamarink a doo,
I love you!
History and Meaning
"Skidamarink" first appeared in 1910, in a Broadway musical called "The Echo". The show featured lyrics by Felix F. Feist and music by Al Piantadosi, who together crafted this catchy little number. Its charm lies in its playful, made up words coupled with a simple, heartfelt declaration of love. While The Echo itself has largely faded from memory, "Skidamarink" took on a life of its own. Perhaps through Vaudeville performances or early children's entertainers, it transitioned from a show tune into a well known nursery rhyme and action song.
